Climbing the Grand Canyon of STEAM - Facilitator
As Arizona becomes the next tech hub, we have tremendous opportunities for our STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, mathematics) professionals to reflect the state’s growing diverse community. Addressing these gender and racial gaps will support Arizona’s economic growth while developing our next generation of STEAM innovators. YWCA is leading the Equity in STEAM Initiative, in partnership with Intel and SRP, to advance women and people of color in STEAM. Our Equity in STEAM Coalition leaders from Lights Camera Discover, Cultural Coalition and Arizona Sustainability Alliance will talk about how they are impacting change in Arizona.
Genevieve Villegas prides herself on using her sensitivity as a superpower. She leads from the heart with intuition, persistence, and creativity by approaching situations and asking, “are all peoples’ voices being represented?” As the Advancement Director at YWCA Metropolitan Phoenix, she’s passionate about equity and opportunity for women and people of color in our community. Honesty and transparency allow her to build meaningful relationships with partners to fuel YWCA’s mission of eliminating racism and empowering women.
