Dr. Tammy Robinson

Dr. Tammy Robinson brings more than 25 years of experience as a community college administrator, faculty member, and higher education leader to her position as President of Mesa Community College. Her primary responsibilities are providing direction for the planning and operation of the college; serving as MCC’s ambassador and advocate; and implementing the college’s strategic priorities.

Appointed President of MCC July 1, 2022, Dr. Robinson quickly engaged with students, staff and the community through department visits and in-person and virtual events to meet and listen to Thunderbirds one-on-one, focusing on a theme of connectedness.

Dr. Robinson represents MCC and shares her higher education knowledge as a Member of the Boards of the Phoenix East Valley Partnership and its Education Think Tank, Mesa United Way, and the Mesa Education and Workforce Development Roundtable.

On the national level, Dr. Robinson is President of the National Council on Black American Affairs; a Member of the Board and Vice President of Development of the Western Region Council on Black American Affairs; a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Commission member of the American Association of Community Colleges; and a member of the Presidents’ Roundtable, an exclusive network of African American professionals in the nation’s community colleges. She received the 2020 Carter Doran Leadership Award, which is bestowed by the California Community Colleges Chief Instructional Officers to honor leaders in community college instruction.

A lifelong community college advocate, Dr. Robinson began her higher education journey at Cerritos College in Norwalk, California, where she received her A.A. She earned her B.A. from University of California – Los Angeles, her M.A. from California State University, Dominguez Hills, and her Ed.D. from the University of Southern California with an emphasis in Community College Administration.

Prior to joining MCC, Dr. Robinson was Vice President of Instruction at Cañada College in California. She previously served as Dean of Global Learning Programs and Services and Dean for Social Science and Creative Arts at Skyline College in California. She also served as Interim Vice President of Academic Services/Athletic Director/CIO at Lassen Community College in California.
