Tristan John-Jandles is an honors pre-law student and incoming junior at Grand Canyon University, where he is committed to the intersection of law and education administration. His goal is to attend law school and serve as legal counsel for school boards and educators, advocating for equitable educational opportunities.
Originally from Canada, Tristan made history as the first Black Student trustee (board member) elected to represent all 64,000 students on his school board. In Arizona, Tristan’s passion for advocacy led him to a role on former state Superintendent Kathy Hoffman’s African American Advisory Council to the Department of Education. Tristan’s involvement in state politics and his admiration of Arizona’s breathtaking landscapes reflect his enthusiasm for making a positive impact on his community.
Tristan is passionate about enhancing education in Arizona as he firmly believes that every individual deserves access to quality education. He is deeply appreciative of the Arizona Alliance for Black School Educators (AzABSE) for their advocacy and commitment to uplifting Black communities.
As the Emcee at the 9th Annual Teacher Leadership Summit, Tristan is honored to be a part of this transformative event, facilitating meaningful conversations and empowering educators to promote educational excellence and equity.
