Taking a Teacher-Centered Approach to Community Impact

Lloyd Hopkins

Million Dollar Teacher Project develops community-centered programming to help schools increase how teachers are recognized, drive support directly to classrooms, and create innovative ways to impact how teachers are compensated. Million Dollar Teacher Project successfully partners with Title I schools to impact the environment and culture surrounding teachers. We do this because creating happy, healthy, whole teachers, creates happy, healthy, whole students. Healthy communities start with healthy schools, and healthy schools start with healthy teachers.

In this session, Million Dollar Teacher Project’s CEO and Founder, Lloyd Hopkins, will share the necessary ingredients for affecting systems change leading to a more equitable education system through a teacher-centered, community-driven approach. When systems are failing, in most instances, it hits communities of color the hardest. Mr. Hopkins will share the multiple approaches his organization utilizes to create pathways for involvement, allowing the community to provide teachers with the extra support they need, such as Classroom Support Teams, Teacher Appreciation Packages, Title I Tech, and Million Dollar Teacher Tree. Learn and discuss how we can design Community-Centered Approaches through diverse opportunities for involvement and collaborations with community partners, allowing us to impact communities from the classroom out.
